Modern Southern Wedding
The goal of this styled shoot was to portray a stunning modern Southern wedding in Nashville and it turned out so incredibly elegant! We wanted to embrace simplicity and truly focus on beautiful copper details and the gorgeous surroundings.
How to Have a Modern Southern Wedding
Having a modern wedding in the South will add a touch of elegance and luxury to your day that will leave your guests breathless. Here are some ideas for having a modern Southern wedding!
Add copper accents
One of the main focuses of this styled shoot was adding in beautiful copper accents throughout the details. This started with the invitation suite that took those copper accents, and blended them with all the other elements: southern, modern, equestrian.
We also included copper within the mobile bar. The Steel Pony is a mobile bar that has a copper exterior – the perfect fit with our color palette. We served Moscow Mules to further tie in the copper touches of the day.
Bringing the copper to the reception, we incorporated copper flatware and chargers in the tablescapes. Just the extra touch to highlight the elegance and luxury.
Enhance the ambiance with an array of candles
Adding an array of candles really creates an atmosphere of romance, and because it is kept simplistic, it gives you a much modern feel. For the head table, we wanted a more intimate setting and candles helped create that. Simplicity allows for guests to enjoy the moment with all of your loved ones.
Add a mobile bar
Mobile bars have recently become a fun new addition to weddings, taking your bar up a level! If you want a more modern feel to your day, then adding a trendy mobile bar is definitely a great option! The Steel Pony fit the overall aesthetic of our styled shoot and added such a unique touch to the photos.

Use all white florals
For the tables, we wanted to focus on all white simplistic florals, a key element to modern weddings recently. We used white roses and baby’s breath on the tables. For the ceremony, we used white florals on the arbor, adding in a few copper florals to tie it together. The white florals on the table allowed for the copper flatware and chargers to truly bring that touch of warmth. Each element highlighted the elegance of the day.
Include some pearls
Adding on to the all white elegance of the florals, we also included pearls into the day. We used some in the bride’s hair, as well as the flatlay. Pearls have always had a timeless vibe, and it tied in perfectly with a Southern wedding, but still gave elegance that you want from a modern wedding theme. Instead, you could always include some pearls in your jewelry!
Choose a modern dress
Finally, you want to make sure your dress fits a modern and Southern style! This bride’s dress had a very ethereal feel, but still felt timeless and upscale. Focus on more simplistic styles, avoiding some of the traditional elements like lace and chiffon. Your dress sets the tone of the whole day, so you want to fit the overall vibe well!
